Recently, SkillPatron had the pleasure of interviewing Adrian Rubin. Adrian, widely known as one of the amenable researchers of the Internet of things, Adrian refers to the Internet of Things as the fourth industrial revolution. He feels this technology is capable of permanently disrupting the current technological environment. He believes artificial intelligence will become common practice in the future. He envisions a world where automation takes much of the burden off mankind. He is continuing his research yet every question he answers leads to ten more. The more he learns the more he wants to know. He believes the capabilities of technology will advance more quickly as time passes. That what is considered improbable or even impossible now will become a commonality in the future.
Adrian Rubin – Top notch Internet of Things (IoT) Researcher.
The main topic of the interview is the Internet of Things (IoT) and its challenges, especially the safety, security and privacy of IoT devices.
How did you come to like the Internet of Things (IoT)?
I have always had an interest in technology for as long as I could remember. I was intrigued by software, video games, cell phones, the internet and computer programming and then I attended college and eventually earned my Masters degree. I enjoyed my field of work until something happened that changed my life. I discovered the Internet of Things; and ever since I have been researching the numerous ways data could be transferred through a network without the input of a human.
What Challenges did you face as a researcher of the Internet of Things?
I faced a lot of technical challenges and started looking for possible solutions. I became completely immersed in my work. I received an excellent opportunity to work for a prominent technological research firm due to some of my research that had been published. This was when I became involved in testing the analytics and security required for IoT applications.
What are some of your most memorable experiences?
I learned about heart monitor implants, biochip transponders and the built in sensors in automobiles. This was all part of data transfer in one form or another. I watched as IoT began to transform and technology continued to advance. The area that interested me the most concerned smart technology. Although I realize computers are currently dependent on humans for nearly all the information they process I believes there are other alternatives. I learned everything there was to know regarding how computers on the same network can communicate with one another.
The IoT is still very much a work in progress. How do you see the IoT evolving in the near future?

What are your predictions on the future of the Internet of Things
I feel if the capacity of machine learning could be increased it would address the issue of the limited time available to the modern individual. For instance I now know there was a way for computers to gather data without human assistance. This ability would enable essentially everything to be counted and tracked, low technological costs and significantly reduce waste. I have also found research regarding assigning an IP address to everything integral to the Internet of Things. If this were perfected it would substantially improve everything from transportation to agriculture to healthcare.
If you could go back in time, what advice would you give to your teenage self?
One of my greatest strengths is “I never give up”. I do not believe there is a question without an answer or a problem without a solid solution. As I continue to find some of the solutions to push technology forward I am always thinking about what is possible next.
